The Big Enterprise Project!
This engaging investigation activity allows students to use develop their innovation, creativity and collaboration skills to control the direction of their enterprise project.
The resource set guides students through the entire project, from conception to evaluation, and includes resources/ guidance for the following activities:
-Deciding upon different roles within their groups, in order to carry out multiple tasks effectively;
-Designing a company name and appropriate logo and slogan;

Northern Lights Comprehension Activities Booklet!
This resource booklet contains a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of Philip Pullman’s ‘Northern Lights.’ Teachers have found them particularly useful in comprehension or guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of children towards meeting the KS3 expectations within the new National Curriculum framework. Children have found these resources extremely engaging, and for teachers there is explicit information within each task regarding which comprehension strands the task is designed to demonstrate. They also relate to key extracts, characters, and themes from the story, ensuring that children gain a deep understanding of the text.
Activities within the booklet include:
‘Context: Religion’ - to enable students to demonstrate that they can: ‘Know the purpose, audience and context of the writing and drawing on this knowledge to support comprehension.’
‘Pullman’s Description’ - to enable students to demonstrate that they can: ‘Know how language, including figurative language, vocabulary choice, grammar, text structure and organisational features, present meaning.’

This interesting and highly-stimulating lesson enables students to describe and understand the key human and physical geography features of Egypt. Celebrating Differences Assembly!
This fun and original assembly aims to assist children in celebrating the differences between themselves and others, through:
-Understanding how diversity is needed in the world;
-Recognising and valuing the differences in their own school;
-Considering how kind words can help us to unite together.
I love leading this assembly, because I feel that the key message within it is so vital, especially in the present climate. More importantly, wherever I have presented this (to a wide-range of students from a wide-range of contexts) it has always gone down extremely well, with students being extremely engaged and informing me of the different ways in which they have celebrated differences in the months that follow!
The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to Prince Harry, Emma Watson, and others in popular culture, to help engage the children in the idea that each individual has their own strengths, weaknesses, like and dislikes, no matter who they are or how successful they appear.
There is also an exciting ‘toothpaste challenge’ included, which demonstrates the importance of ensuring that our words to others are kind and respectful. The challenge includes a hyperlink to a countdown clock. In addition to this, all other resources that you will need are provided in the pack.
The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!
Of Mice and Men Comprehension Activity Booklet!

Anglo-Saxons Daily Life - Double Lesson!
In this engaging lesson, children develop an understanding of Anglo-Saxons daily life, in particular: farming, jobs and village life, settlements and buildings and food. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Knowledge recall - gauging what children already know about the Anglo-Saxon era (answers are provided);
-Understanding that the scale of time between the Anglo-Saxon period and the modern day, helping to contextualise the how comparatively simple and harsh life was in the time of the Anglo-Saxons;
-Interpreting and analysing four sources (provided) in order to gain a deeper understanding of each of the key areas of Anglo-Saxon daily life;
-Completing their own extended research to find out more about one of the key areas of daily life;
-Composing a creative piece in which they put themselves in the shoes of an Anglo-Saxon villager;
-Comparing Anglo-Saxon daily life with other eras;
-Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objective.
Included is the comprehensive PowerPoint presentation (20 slides), the four sources for the source analysis activity, and the template upon which to record their findings.

New GCSE English Language Reading: 19th Century Non-Fiction
These informative and engaging resources enable students to build the skills needed to interpret and analyse 19th Century non-fiction texts. This will aid students through the new Paper 2 Section A of GCSE English Language - for which they need to become confident readers of 19th, 20th, and 21st Century non-fiction texts. These resources give students a strong foundation of knowledge of features of non-fiction texts in the 19th Century, using newspaper stories from the time based on 'Jack the Ripper' as the predominant examples. There are easily enough resources for at least two lessons within this resource pack.
Students learn through the following tasks:
- Inferring and deducing contextual knowledge through an interactive starter task;
- Understanding the features of London in 1888 through a video introduction;
- Building close reading skills through a study of a non-fiction extract about Jack the Ripper;
- Answering exam-style questions interpreting and inferring the key meanings in the text;
- Using models and templates to write extended analysis responses about the language used in the non-fiction extract;
- Peer assessing their partners' learning attempts.

The Woman in Black: Eel Marsh House - The Ghostly Setting!
This engaging and informative lesson enables students to make precise and sustained interpretations regarding Susan Hill’s portrayal of Eel Marsh House in the early chapters of The Woman in Black. In particular, they consider how the language (e.g. similes and pathetic fallacy) are used to introduce and develop the imagery and atmosphere of the house. They also consider how the features of the house (e.g. its isolation and age) relate to the generic conventions of scary settings.
The lesson follows a step-by-step learning journey, in which children learn through:
- Defining the key conventions of ghostly settings;
- Reading extracts introducing Eel Marsh House, and relating the conventions of ghostly settings to the description of Eel Marsh House;
- Identifying and exploring how the features of Hill’s language help to create imagery and an atmosphere that surrounds Eel Marsh House;
- Analysing how Hill’s language and subject matter are effective in the description of Eel Marsh House;
- Peer assessing each other’s learning attempts.
Included is:
- Whole lesson PowerPoint - colourful and comprehensive;
- Extracts from ‘The Journey North’ and ‘Across the Causeway’ of The Woman in Black;
- The Features of Ghostly Settings worksheet;

DT Mechanisms - KS1 Sliders and Levers Bundle!
This engaging and purposeful series of lessons enables children to create working slider and lever mechanisms.
The resources include 3 lessons and an evaluation sheet (leading children through the ‘research, design, make, evaluate’ process) and a corresponding knowledge organiser.
I used a polar theme when teaching this unit, as it was our topic at the time, but the resources can easily be adapted to fit your own particular project.
